How do I know what gave me these leg muscles?
Q. I've been going to the gym and I've been doing leg presses as part of my workout. However, recently I went bushwalking which was mostly uphill(afterwards my legs seemed slightly more cut), and then a few days after that I went sprinting. Two days after sprinting and my legs look and feel much more muscular and "cut" as well. How do I know which one of these improved my legs?

Why are the nights darker in Australia than in Canada?
Q. I been there in the country. When night falls it is pitch black. Hardly any starlight, and I can't remember a moon. In Canada in the summer, in the country, you can still "see" as there is more light from stars and there is a moon, most every night. I would be more apt to go bushwalking in Canada than in Australia. Aussie comments?

A. On a clear night, with no clouds, moonlight, or artificial lights to block the view, people can see more than 14,000 stars in the sky, says Dennis Ward, an astronomer with the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) in Boulder, Colo. He helped coordinate the Star Count. But when people are surrounded by city lights, he says, they're lucky to see 150 stars. If you've ever driven toward a big city at night and seen its glow from afar, you've witnessed light pollution. It occurs when light from streetlights, office buildings, signs, and other sources streams into space and illuminates the night sky. This haze of light makes many stars invisible to people on Earth. Dust and particles of pollution from factories and industries… [cont.]

What is the most beautiful and fun national park in NSW, Australia?
Q. My interest are bushwalking, fauna, photography etc..
Asked by Juan_Pablo_Castel - Mon Sep 10 00:21:32 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The absolute best would be either the Royal National Park (the big one just south of Sydney), or in the Blue Mountains around Katoomba and Leura. Kuringai Chase, West Head...even Kosciuszko, although that's a bit far from the cities (its way up in the Snowy Mountains.) Also try Jenolan Caves - some of the best natural limestone caves I've ever seen - and open for tours.

Anyone know any dog friendly bushwalks in the blue mountains?

A. Maybe bushwalking is a word only we Aussies use - who knew? Pop into your nearest bushwalking/camping store - or one on the way there, many of these stores stock small booklets on local walks - I have heaps on the Grampians and Victorian Highlands, but none for NSW! Local "General Stores" are also good sources of these maps. Don't know if Lonely Planet has done a Blue Mountains Guide - but if they have that's what I'd be looking for. Make sure you check before you go that dogs are allowed where you want to walk. I know dogs are not allowed in National Parks, some State Parks allow them on leash. Try this site:

Q. I am 55 year old caucasian male. I have a mild burning pain in my chest near my heart. The pain is not aways there. It only comes when I am breathing air that has been air-conditioned. A. Your could try companies like Under Down Under or Adventureseekers they run a lot of eco tours here and if they don't run anything that suits you might be able to point you in the right direction. There are also a number of bush walking clubs if you belong to any where you are they may have local contacts Also the Tourism Tas website has a lot of links

A. I live in Perth, there are so many fishing spots, camping places and of course the Bibblumen track is the bushwalkers paradise, goes all the way to Albany. Depending on where you will be living, most things are only 1/2 hour drive, we have cool winters with lots of sunshine and hot humid summers. Its beautiful and clean, house prices are getting ridiculous although there is a slowing in the market. Hope that helps :0)

A. What is the purpose of your life that it is worthy of your living it? You have great gifts, your wife and your children, but are you just using them to occupy your time until you die? Is that a worthy purpose for your life? In a materialistic worldview, love is nothing more than getting some feelings. How noble, how worthy is that? You say the world is special and unique but look in the sky and see the clouds. Every one is special and unique. You are like one of those, but the specialness and the uniqueness of the cloud does not give it meaning or purpose. Only through self deception can you think that your life, your cloud, has any meaning or purpose.

A. you will possibly need to go to a camping or surplus store to find what you need . Also some towns do not have back packer accomodation i suggest when you arrive in Australia you go a big city and see if you can find a booklet or magazine on listings of back packer accomodation. You could look this up on the internet also, and print out a list .

Probability math question?
Q. I'm having a little trouble with this probability question. (Venn diagram type of math question) 50 students go bushwalking. 23 get sunburnt, 22 get bitten by ants and 5 are both sunburnt and bitten by ants. Determine the probability that a randomly selected student: was either bitten or sunburnt.? Also what is the probability that a randomly selected student was neither biten nor sunburnt? Thank you in advance.
Asked by assailantkilla - Tue Nov 18 23:38:41 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. it means 18 students got sunburns and 17 got bitten by Ants and 5 got both of them and 10 got neither of them. So prob( either bitten by ant or sunburnt) = (18+17)/50 = 70% chances prob(neither bitten by ant or sunburnt) = 10/50 = 20% chances.

Who would you save?
Q. Here is the scenario: You are bushwalking and approach a cliff face. You take your camera out to get some photos only to see a man and a 5 week old Beagle puppy with big flappy ears holding on for dear life over the cliff edge. It appears that they were admiring the view and accidently slipped. The Beagle is hanging onto a branch with its teeth and the man with his hands. There is only enough time to save the man or the puppy? The one you don't save will shortly become exhausted and fall to their death. Who would you choose to save?

A. Hm.. as much as I love puppies, I'd probably save the man. The puppy can't be replaced, but the man has a family and friends who would be devastated if he had died (and then found out that I saved the puppy, haha).

I am 18, live in Tasmania, I'm active, enjoy bushwalking, the beach, driving and shopping, I am looking for work in transport/logistics and I am a very compasionate person, I am just looking for some new friends to give me some inspiration as i fear that I have lost my girlfriend as I couldnt call her last night to resolve some issues, she thinks that I dont love her and most of my mates are males and they wouldn't understand what I am going through at the moment...but I think a female would as I know some aren't mean and that they do know that we males do have reasons for not calling, real reasons so if anyone within Australia is looking for a new trustworthy friend, someone that they can talk to about anything and is just an allround… [cont.]

Q. I sprained my ankle bushwalking and because 3/4 of our group were boys, and because i didnt collapse on the ground in pain but kept walking on it (really bad idea). when i did it my ankle rolled over a rock and went inverted i also heard a very loud crack sound (like when u "crack" ur knuckles. ) it was VERY swollen and bruised. two days later i did the freycinet bushwalking trip( very much against mums better judgement) with the same group and by the time i go back not only was is some very pretty shades of red blue and purple but swollen to the same size as my calf and painful to both touch and walk on. a few days later my ankle collapsed and i was taken to ER basically they told me that it was a 3rd degree sprain and i had to use… [cont.]

A. I would see your doctor and get it checked again as you are still in so much pain. Take care.

Would you be annoyed too?
Q. My long term boyfriend is about to go away for about a month. We went for dinner last night and he basically didn't sleep well at my place because of noises from my neighbours. So we cancelled this evening, me staying at his, so he could sleep better and were due to go out bushwalking etc tomorrow. I am just annoyed because he called me to say it was going to rain tomorrow so there is not much we can do together so I may as well not come over. I said to him he was going away and even watching a dvd would be good. In answer to which I get, we'll see. For someone going away for so long, its a bit inconsiderate I think, do you agree? I mentioned on the phone that he was making it clear what he thinks of me by not seeing me before he went… [cont.]

boat into reverse, and you would liken the experience to having a bucket of ice-cold water tipped over your head, and then sitting in front of a strong fan. It was fun, though. As seen on Andrew Purdam's . Bushwalking. Treasure Box blog.
